Taqwa is the hallmark of believers and source of goodness in this world and the hereafter, Hajj sermon

Makkah: Delivering the Hajj sermon at Masjid Namira, Imam of Masjid al-Haram, Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah emphasised that taqwa (piety) is the defining trait of true believers and the path to success in both this world and the hereafter.

Quoting the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, he said: “Worship Allah as if you see Him; and if you cannot, then know that He sees you.”

He warned that Satan is a clear enemy to humanity and urged believers to avoid his traps. Islam commands goodness and forbids evil—even forgiving an enemy is an act of righteousness. Good deeds erase sins, he added.

The Imam also stressed the importance of purifying the inner self, noting that spiritual diseases hinder closeness to Allah. Fasting in Ramadan, made obligatory like it was in previous nations, is a means of cleansing the soul and gaining spiritual proximity.
